General Questions


  • Why the name Nayru?

    The founder and owner of Nayru Digital named the company after one of the three goddesses from her favorite video game, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She picked this goddess because Nayru represents wisdom.


    Wisdom and knowledge are a big part of our core values. We use knowledge and experience in order to bring you the best options for your website, and to ensure it will continue to serve you and your clients well into the future.


    Fun fact: The Triforce symbol from the Zelda games is what inspired the triangle in our logo!

  • Where are you located?

    We're based in Sacramento, California.


    We do not have a public office location as we're fully remote (this may change in the future as we grow). However, if you need to meet with someone in person, there are spaces that we can book for appointments. Or we can meet at your favorite cafe, restaurant, or park! We also offer virtual meetings via Zoom.


    We can travel to most areas in and around Sacramento County. If you're not sure if you're in our in-person service area, contact us and ask. 


    We have clients all over the country, so even if you're nowhere near us, we can still provide you with amazing service!

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    For online payments, we accept all major credit cards, PayPal, or Venmo. If you'd prefer to pay by check or cash, we can accept checks or money orders by mail, or cash or any of the above payment methods in person.


    Please note that there is a $50 fee if your check is returned by your bank.


    Automatically recurring subscription payments can only be made online via credit card, PayPal, or Venmo.


    If you'd prefer to pay your subscription fees offline or without automatic payments, let us know and we can send invoices that you can pay however you choose!


Website Care Plans


  • What does "functional updates" mean? (Listed as a service included in all plans)

    All our Website Care Plans come with free functional updates.


    This means making sure that the software that runs your website, and any add-ons, are kept up to date in order to preserve full functionality and security. 


    If a website isn't regularly updated as needed, it may be left vulernable to hacking, or something may break or not function properly as web browser technologies change.


    Functional updates does not include changes to the content or design of your site. That's covered under the monthly free and billable hours for design & content changes (see the question about design & content change hours for more info on that).

  • What's included in the free tech support?

    If something on your website breaks, we'll fix it. If your website gets hacked or goes down completely, we'll recover the website from the most recent backup.


    We can also help if you're having trouble accessing your site, or having issues with the site editor or anything else.


    Free tech support does not include changes to the content or design of your site. That's covered under the monthly free and billable hours for design & content changes (see the next question for more info on that).

  • How are the design & content change hours billed?

    Each Website Care Plan comes with a set number of free hours per month for design and content changes to your website.


    These hours start on the day your website is completed (after any revision rounds outlined in your contract), and reset on that day of the month each month.


    Every time we complete a request for design or content changes after the completion of your website, we will deduct the time it took us to complete that request from your allocated free hours. If any change requests end up going over your free hours for the month, we will request your approval to proceed and, if approved, bill you for any additional time.


    Time is counted by and rounded up to the nearest tenth (0.1) of an hour (6 minute increments). So if something only takes us 5 minutes to complete, you will only be billed for, or have deducted from your monthly hours, one tenth of an hour for that request.

  • Do the free design & content change hours roll over to the next month if I don't use them?

    Unfortunately, they do not.


    However, if you have pre-paid for additional hours and do not use them within the month, they will not expire and will roll over to the next month until they are used.

  • Can I get a Care Plan if my site wasn't built by you?

    In most cases, no. 


    This is because we want to make sure that we have the best control possible over the functionality and security of your website, and we can do that best if we know exactly what went into building your site.


    However, we may make an exception if your website meets certain criteria. We also may be able to rebuild your site even better for a great price!

Nayru Sites


  • What is a Nayru Site?

    "Nayru Sites" is what we call websites built by us that have our easy-to-use website editor built in so that you can log in and make simple changes without using your monthly hours for design and content changes.


    It's also what you'll be using to build your site if you choose the Nayru Sites DIY option.


    These sites are hosted on fast and secure AWS servers, so you never have to worry about getting a separate hosting account and making sure everything is set up correctly.

  • Do Nayru Sites require a Website Care Plan?

    No, because we don't believe in forcing you to pay for something that you don't want or can't afford.


    We bundled our most essential and useful services into these packages along with the website hosting so that we can provide you with the best service at the best prices.


    Some of the services included in the Plans are part of the hosting that comes with all Nayru Sites, which have their own cost. If you feel that you don't need extras such as uptime monitoring, backups, compliance, or design & content change support hours, we can set up a basic plan for you that only includes the hosting and any e-commerce add-ons you may need.


    We can also work with you to create a custom plan that includes only the services you want and works with your budget!

  • Can I host my Nayru Site elsewhere?

    Nayru Sites is a hosted solution, meaning that the hosting is included and the sites generally need to be hosted on our servers to work properly. The Nayru website builder/editor also lives on our servers and that's included in the monthly cost.


    However, we believe that as a website owner you should own your website completely and therefore be able to move it to whevever you'd like, and not be stuck using our services if you no longer wish to. 


    If you request it, we can export and send you a copy of your full website, which you can then bring to any hosting provider you wish. There are some caveats with this option though:

    • You will not be able to make edits to the exported site using the Nayru site editor, so all future edits will need to be made through the HTML and CSS files.
    • Some widgets and features may not be available or may appear but not work in the export. We will send you a full list of what those are if you request this option.
    • If you move your site to another hosting provider, you will no longer be able to have a website care plan with us. This is because we will no longer have easy access to make changes to the website, and we will have less control over the server security and performance.
